We all sometimes need a reminder to laugh. This study is from 2009, but a good lesson to us always….keep laughing!
Researchers at Loma Linda University tracked people with diabetes every month for over a year who watched 30 minutes of a funny programme (laughter group) versus a second group that did not. All patients were on standard diabetes, hypertension and hyperlipidemia medications. The only difference between the two groups was laughter. At the end of one year, the patients who were in the laughter group had lower chronic stress, inflammation and stress molecules called catecholamines that can cause heart and blood pressure problems. Yes, laugh a little, smile a little, let go a little, and live healthier.
